Who We Are

The Cunning Folk is a theatre group that creates spaces to explore religion, myth and spirituality through the medium of performance, with particular focus on women and/or non-christian religious traditions. This outlook shapes both how we select our stories and who we ask to tell them. Basically, we want to let weird women be weird and make weirdly beautiful (and beautifully weird) spiritually-oriented stuff that also gets a platform. Not everything has to be smooth and glossy to be good; sometimes it is the kookiest, the most diy, and the most experimental work that gets us the closest to some kind of truth (whilst having a good laugh along the way). And that’s basically what we’re all here to do, right?
